Canadian Kids with Cameras

To promote this contest, we emailed an invitation to participate directly to each of the Network of Innovative Schools that ranged from Kindergarten - Grade 6. We also advertised it throughout our school district and provincially through the 2learn connections. Each of us spread the word through our network of colleagues.

The only submissions for this contest, however, came from within our own two schools. We chose not to designate winners, and instead celebrated the process of creating movies with such young children.

The movies were shown to our school audiences - "Popcorn and a Movie" and each child was celebrated for their endeavors.

We can only speculate as to the reasons why there were no other submissions. But we are glad to have offered the opportunity for others to participate, and for the chance to think about this being a national project. Most of all, we are proud of our students.

A special thank you to Lindsay and Scott, who worked with the children as coaches. Without them, many children would not have had this multimedia experience.
